After a few weeks of change, and a new direction prioritising my own health knowing that being a family person involves making decisions which put yourself and family first: it's a great feeling to take stock and focus on the next chapter relishing the moment as I hurtle towards achieving published author status come September 2025.
I recently visited a friend of mine — Daisy Peak , who returned to he UK after being overseas (the picture here is one of hers taken of me on a vintage Japanese analogue camera). I was taken back by the excitement of having to wait a few weeks until the 35mm film returns, developed. it is patience which we have somehow lost in our 'world at your fingertips culture'.
What I find exhilarating about my career thus far, is the connections and networks I've formulated that cross over a decade, as well as continents. In an age of the 'online', there's no real impetus to practice or discipline in ensuring that human connection and communication is so vital, continued and needed.
I do firmly believe that, whilst technology is developed at rapid speed, we as a society will always survive with the necessary human nature that no robot or learned machine can process. It is humanity that requires humans, despite technological aids with the likes of the rise of #AI.
Yes, I too am fearful like many writers that my words from a forthcoming book i.e. 'The Rise and Rise of Chappell Roan' may well be scraped and used by Big Tech companies, without my express permission. A horrible feeling, though not a new one if you have seen books old on the black market in countries (as I did first-hand in Pakistani last December). I urge you all to note that we must protect creators, as well as our intellectual property.
Though, with all technology/technological advancements continually improving functionality (ability) - it is important to note the real importance of how we can find the benefits (one that isn't used by nefarious powers, mind) as well as keeping creators be it writers, playwrights etc. protected by the UK law (and legislative bodies across the globe).
